YNYS: Immersive Durational Performance (2017)
Ynys explores the island as mythical space.
For centuries the island has represented a paradox: both safe haven and dangerous unknown; a place of abundance and barren rock; welcoming home and distant foreign land; solid ground and shimmering mirage.
A durational audio-visual performance in collaboration with art director Florence To, Ynys creates an illusory field of sound and light which encourages the audience to reflect on their unchallenged notions of space and spatial relations: where we call home, to what and to whom we belong, and the bounders and borders that we choose to delineate the safe from the other.
Ynys was commissioned by and performed at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf.
